DC Motor Speed Controller using a LM317

Image
A very simple DC motor speed controller circuit can be constructed using a LM317 voltage regulator integrated circuit. This DC motor speed controller can be used for speed control  of mini drills or for other small DC motors. This motor controller circuit will provide a large output current. The maximum output current from the secondary turns of the transformer shout provide 1.5 times of the maximum DC output current. The output voltage and the speed (rpm) is set by the P2 variable resistor. DC Motor Speed Controller using a LM317:  As soon as the current drawn exceeds a certain value, T2 will be switched on. This results in a base current for T3 so that R5 is in parallel with R6. This automatically raise the output voltage to counter a threatened drop in rpm.  The moment at which this action occurs is set by P1.

Proportional Temperature Controller Circuit Diagram

Image
This temperature controller operates as a pulse snatching device, which allows it to run at its own speed and tum on at the zero crossing of the line frequency. Zero crossing tum-on reduces the generation of line noise transients. TMOS Power FET, Ql, is used to tum on a heater. Temperature sensor D6 provides a de voltage proportional to temperature that is applied to voltage-tofrequency converter Ul. Output from Ul is a pulse train proportional to temperature offset that is applied to the input of triac optoisolator U2. Proportional-Temperature-Controller Circuit Diagram The anode supply for the triac is a 28 V pk-pk, full-wave rectified sine wave. The optoisolator ORs the pulse train from Ul with the zeroTrossing of U2`s anode supply, supplying a gate tum on signal for Ql. Therefore, TMOS power FET Ql can only tum the heater on at the zero crossing of the applied sine wave. The maximum temperature, limited by the sensor and the insulation of the wire, is 130°C for the components sho...

Water Level Controller Detector

Image
Water Level Controller Detector . In most houses, water is first stored in an underground tank (UGT) and from there it is pumped up to the overhead tank (OHT) located on the roof. People generally switch on the pump when their taps go dry and switch off the pump when the overhead tank starts overflowing. This results in the unnecessary wastage and sometimes non-availability of water in the case of emergency.  The simple circuit presented here makes this system automatic, i.e. it switches on the pump when the water level in the overhead tank goes low and switches it off as soon as the water level reaches a pre-determined level. It also prevents ‘dry run’ of the pump in case the level in the underground tank goes below the suction level.    In the figure, the common probes connecting the underground tank and the overhead tank to +9V supply are marked ‘C’. The other probe in underground tank, which is slightly above the ‘dry run’ level, is marked ‘S’. The low-level and high-...

Dual High Side Switch Controller

Image
Circuit diagram : Dual High Side Switch Controller Circuit Diagram One of the most frequent uses of n-channel MOSFET’s is as a voltage controlled switch. To ensure that the MOSFET delivers the full supply voltage to the load it is necessary for the gate voltage to be a few volts above the supply voltage level. This can be a problem if no other suitable higher volt-age sources are available for use elsewhere in the circuit. The LTC 1982 dual high-side switch controller from Lin-ear Technology (www.linear-tech.com) solves this problem by incorporating a voltage tripler circuit in the gate driver stage. The gate voltage is limited to +7.5 V which is 2.0 V above the IC’s maximum operating voltage. It can directly drive the gate of logic-level MOSFET with a VGS(th) from 1.0 V to 2.0 V. A suitable n-channel logic level MOSFET would be the BSP 295. This device can switch up to 1.5 A and is available in an SOT 233 SMD package.

Kitchen Exhaustion Fan Controller

Image
Exhaustion fan is a very important element in kitchens. Here may be a easy circuit to manage kitchen fans by monitoring the ambient temperature. it's engineered round the renowned precision integrated temperature sensor chip LM35 (IC1). remainder of the circuit may be a non-traditional electromagnetic relay driver wired round the fashionable LED driver LM3914 (IC2). User will switch 3 presetted temperature levels employing a jumper/slide switch (JP1), that determines the warmth level to activate the relay and hence the electrical exhaustion fan wired through the relay contacts. It works off 12V DC power offer. Kitchen Exhaustion Fan Controller  Circuit Schematic Only one adjustment is needed during this kitchen Exhaustion fan controller circuit. when construction, set jumper purpose in its 1st position, ie base terminal of T1 is connected to pin thirteen of IC2 and alter the preset P1 fastidiously in order that relay RL1 is energised when ambient temperature level reaches close to ...

Water Pump Relay Controller Circuit Schematic

Image
Description By means of a Relay, employed to drive a water pump, this circuit provides automatic level control of a water reservoir or well. The shorter steel rod is the "water high" sensor, whereas the longer is the "water low" sensor. When the water level is below both sensors, IC1C output (pin #10) is low; if the water becomes in contact with the longer sensor the output remains low until the shorter sensor is reached. At this point IC1C output goes high, Q1 conducts, the Relay is energized and the pump starts operating. Now, the water level begins to decrease and the shorter sensor will be no longer in contact with the water, but IC1C output will be hold high by the signal return to pin #5 of IC1B, so the pump will continue its operation. But when the water level falls below the longer sensor, IC1C output goes low and the pump will stop. SW1 is optional and was added to provide reverse operation. Switching SW1 in order to connect R3 to pin #11 of IC1D, the pump ...

Contrast Controller Circuit Diagram For LCDs

Image
The adjustment control for the contrast of an LC-Display is typically a 10-k potentiometer. This works fine, provided that the power supply voltage is constant. If this is not the case (for example, with a battery power supply) then the potentiometer has to be repeatedly adjusted. Very awkward, in other words. The circuit described here offers a solution for this problem.  The aforementioned potentiometer is intended to maintain a constant current from the contrast connection (usually pin 3 or Vo) to ground. A popular green display with 2x16 characters ‘supplies’ about 200 µA. At a power supply voltage of 5 V there is also an additional current of 500 µA in the potentiometer itself. Not very energy efficient either. Now there is an IC, the LM334, which, with the aid of one resistor, can be made into a constant current source. The circuit presented here ensures that there is a current of 200 µA to ground, independent of the power supply voltage. By substituting a 2.2-k? potentiomete...

Simple Model Rocket Launch Controller

Image
Here I share this electronic circuit project for Model rocket launch controller circuit diagram. Most commercial rocket controllers available to buy are either expensive or do not have many features. After a lot of searching I found nothing that met my needs. I wanted a controller that could work multiple pads, as well as being easy to set up and pack away, so I designed my own. It has the ability to control up to 8 pads through a 6 core cable. You may want to be able to disconnect all your units. I used 6 pin DIN plugs so that all the units can be disconnected and easily transported. I wont go into details of how this works yet, although it is very useful as this type of cable is used in alarm systems and can be purchased cheaply. Each pad unit has a two sockets for signal input and output, with the input to the first pad unit coming from the controller. Any other units are then daisy chained to the first pad box. The controller also has a built in launch countdown controller, althoug...

Water Level Controller and motor Protector v2

Image
This is the v2 by using PIC16F877A with minimum components. The most left circuitry is the same as in mains monitor; used to check to variation in ac voltage (operating range is between 200v ac - 240v ac). Five pull-up resistor circuitry is used to measure the water level in the desired water tank. Note that the push buttons are used here is only for illustration purpose, basically they are representing the probes (6 probes made of 28 gauge wire; one is of ground (reference) level). The left most probe indicates 20% of water in tank, next indicates 40% and so on till 100% or full level. Note that these probes should be inserted in water tank after measuring the tank size; then divide it in five equal levels to correctly measure the water level. The SPDT switch is used to on/off motor. D0 LED is indicating the position of this switch means if the switch is on it will glow to remind you. Note that if the water level is full and the motor switch is in on state motor wil...
